Only seventeen, Christine Amamiya has accomplished much for someone so young. A poet and a dreamer, she grew up in Arizona. Her first poem was published in 2004 in a collection of poems titled “Colours of the Heart.” A 2005 Lamont Younger Poet’s Prize winner and Scholastic Art and Writing Awards national gold medalist, she has also been published in Scholastic’s Best Teen Writing of 2007 as one of 50 featured writers. Three-time recipient of the Lewis Sibley Poetry Prize, she recently won a prestigious Silver Award for a General Writing Portfolio in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in addition to being published in the Eight Schools 8x8. In her free time, she loves to read, write, and figure skate. She enjoys astronomy and spending time with her little sister. Christine currently attends Harvard University, where she is pursuing a honors degree in English with a focus in Creative Writing. She most recently has been awarded the David Ecker Short Story Prize for Freshmen. In addition to the popular Adventure of Pink Elephant series, she currently is writing a young adult fantasy fiction novel, Brightfire.
